FormatIA

Convert your WhatsApp chat to Excel

An exported WhatsApp chat is a plain text file you cannot filter or sort. FormatIA splits it into four columns (date, time, sender and message) that you can copy into Excel or Google Sheets, or download as CSV. Multi-line messages stay together and system notices are dropped.

We do not store your text. Simple chats and CSV files are processed in your browser; with AI, the text goes to Groq only to produce your answer.

Your AI uses reset at midnight (UTC). WhatsApp chats and simple CSV files stay unlimited. If you want unlimited AI, leave your email and we will tell you when Premium opens.

How it works

  1. 1

In WhatsApp open the chat, tap the three dots, choose More, then Export chat, and pick “Without media”.

  2. 2

Paste the contents of the .txt file here, or upload it directly.

  3. 3

Copy the table for Excel or Sheets, or download it as .CSV.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with both iPhone and Android chats?

Yes. It recognises both export formats, with 12-hour or 24-hour time, and understands dates like 03/11/26 or 11/3/26.

Does it use up my AI uses?

No. Splitting a chat into columns happens in your browser, without AI, so it is unlimited. AI is only used when you want to extract something specific, such as orders.

Do you store my conversations?

No. When you only split the chat into columns, the text is not sent to any server, and we do not store anything you paste.
